Baby MusicWhen you want your child to get to sleep and to stay asleep, you may be thinking that you'll use any and all possible means of having them finally nod off. They need their rest, but you need yours as well! Using baby music is a good way to relax your child and encourage a peaceful night's sleep. Parents and mothers especially have actually been using baby music for centuries, long before recorded music and online websites. When you sing a lullaby to your child, you're using baby music for him or her! This is a very useful and time tested way of getting a child to relax and to be ready for sleep, and to help him or her stay asleep as well. To ensure that you use the right baby music and that it works effectively, consider a few simple tips as to when and how it can do the most good. After all, you don't want this to keep your child awake or agitate him or her; this would do more harm than good! Use the right lullaby and the right sounds. Obviously your baby music should be soothing and calming; heavy metal music or the latest pop tunes are going to agitate anyone, including a young child! There are reasons why lullabies are written and performed the way that they are and are marketed specifically for children. When choosing soothing baby music, it's also good to avoid orchestral music and music that you find to be slow and soothing. These complicated pieces may have a slower tempo but they're usually too much noise for a baby to process. Listen carefully to baby music when you get a chance and notice how lullabies are usually single notes played one at a time; this is so the child doesn't get overwhelmed and can truly relax. So, choose arrangements made specifically for the child and don't rely on what soothes you or relaxes you overall. When to play it. When do you play baby music so that it does the most good? When it's time for bed, you can play this so that the child begins to associate this music with sleep and rest. This will help calm him or her even before you put them down in their crib. You can also continue to play it for some time after they're asleep to help them stay calm and relaxed, but don't play it all night. Too much baby music may interfere with their deep sleep and make them agitated. There is a reason why players are usually on timers that you wind up or why programmed baby music lasts only so many minutes. Playing it all night can mean keeping them up, but don't rush into their room and switch it off the minute they're asleep. Some baby music can keep them quiet until they're in that deep sleep so try a timer to help keep them on the right schedule. |
